eyelash extensions
aftercare
DO NOT GET YOUR LASHES WET FOR 24 HOURS.
This includes rain, sweat, steam and tears! The adhesive needs time to cure and too much contact with moisture can cause shock curing that can make the bond weak and brittle and cause poor retention.
CLEANSING
After 24hr you can use the lash shampoo with your finger or an eyeshadow makeup brush to throughly clean the lids, lash line and your lashes every other day or every day if you wear makeup daily.
The extensions will clump together when they are wet, so to dry them you can use a fresh towel to gently pat dry and use a hairdryer on a cool setting or a mini fan and brush them out using a spoolie so they can fluff out again.
We recommend cleansing your lashes throughly and come in with no makeup/products around your eyes at every lash appointment. Cleaned lashes = more lashing time = better retention!
DO NOT PULL OR RUB THE EYELASH EXTENSIONS
Pulling is likely to rip the natural eyelash out before it is due to shed. This damage your natural lashes, causing gaps along the lash line and it will need time to recover that is dictated by their lash growth cycle. This will make your extensions to look less full overtime.
DO NOT SLEEP ON YOUR LASHES
Try to sleep on your back and avoid sleeping on your sides or on your stomach. The extensions can rub into the pillow and fall off with your natural lashes. Silk pillow case is recommended to avoid this problem.
WEARING AND REMOVING FACE MAKEUP
Carefully apply foundation/concealer so it doesn’t make contact with the extensions.
Powder eye shadow can be applied as gently as possible.
Do not coat your extensions with ANY mascara. It is very difficult to remove all traces of it without harming the extensions. You may add mascara to bottom lashes.
Avoid using any waterproofed eyeliner on the upper lids. You may use non-waterproof liquid eyeliner if really needed. We recommending using eyeshadow as eyeliner since it’s more easy to remove your makeup. You can use pencil eyeliners for lower eyeliner. Please make sure to clean your lashes throughly before your fill if you wear makeup frequently.
Use OIL-FREE makeup remover lint-free wipes to carefully remove your eye makeup. And do your normal washing routine.
DO NOT USE COTTON NEAR YOUR LASHES
Do not use cotton wool balls, Q-tips or cotton pads near your extensions as their threads can snag and get caught up in them. This can cause irritation and discomfort. Use lint-free wipe only.
DO NOT ALLOW CONTACT WITH ANY OILY PRODUCTS
Oily products like moisturising creams, sunscreen, foundation makeup, and even some makeup reomver can break down the adhesive so the bond will not last as long. Avoid applying oily products near your lashes at all times.
SCHEDULE YOUR REFILL
You should schedule your refill every 2-3 weeks to keep your lashes nice and full. It is normal for 3-5 of your natural lashes to shed per day. Lashes are on a replenishing cycle and there are times when our lash cycle is more rapid/slow down through seasonal shedding or as we age.
Waiting too long between refill will make grown out extensions to twist and turn causing heavy weight, irritation and damage of your natural lashes.
If you have less than 30% retention you will need to get a full set.
DO NOT ALLOW HARSH HEAT NEAR THE EYELASH EXTENSIONS
Eyelash extensions can frazzle or melt under harsh heat sources. Please be careful when you’re near intense heat like fire, oven or grill, etc.
AVOID USING SAUNA, STEAM ROOM, HOT TUB OR SWIM
Limited use of sauna, steam room, hot tub or swimming will make your retention last a lot longer.
NO MORE TEARS!
Tear fluid is made up of a range of components including water, oil and mucus. Often, clients will lose more of their extensions if they have been crying and the extensions will get harden up and clump together. Avoid brushing your lashes right after because it can yank the extensions and your real lashes off. You need to cleanse your lashes with lash shampoo immediately after a tearful spell to wash away the oil and mucus, then blow dry and brush them to get them fluffy again.
NO FALSE LASHES
False lashes should not be worn with extensions as its adhesive often gets caught in the extensions and will pull your extensions along with your natural lashes out. it is incredibly damaging and it’s very difficult to remove or cleanse.
NO LASH CURLING, LIFTING, PERMING OR TINTING THE EXTENSIONS
Lash curlers can permanently crimp the extensions and pop them right off. Perming, lash lifts and lash tints are not recommended whilst extensions are worn. You may treat your lower lashes.
